EARTH: the Book, by Jon Stewart & The Daily Show
This is a book written for the Aliens who will someday discover the remnants of our our extinct species, brought to us by the writers of the comedic faux-News Program, The Daily Show featuring Jon Stewart, which is where most Americans get their news.
Entertainment Weekly writes: It's the ultimate gallows humor: We had it pretty good, now we're all dead.
Some Earth: the Book definitions of our culture:
Love - liking another person very very very very very much.
Work - that which we didn't want to do, but had to, if we didn't want to eat dirt
The Grand Canyon - the biggest rift in Arizona not involving Mexicans
Mr. Potato Head - a popular children's toy whose sensory organs could be quickly removed and stored in his ass
Not exactly George Orwell's 1984 (the cautionary tale which as we all know has actually come to pass), but if it's half as amusing as the same gang's America: the Book of 6 years ago, I'll buy it.
Then again, perhaps I'll hold out for The Teacher's Edition.
