The Magical Mathematical Mystery Tour
America is woefully behind the rest of the world in both the teaching and learning of mathematics. The reason is not the fault of the teachers nor the students, but rather the horrible state of American Public Education. Those who run Public Education here are not well-versed in Mathematics, and put horrible constraints on what Math teachers can and cannot teach.
In fact, Mathematics is both beautiful and fun. Or can be. Should be.
A small group of people wish to reverse that trend, myself included. GOOD NEWS! The Museum of Mathematics, or MoMath, will open in New York City this year. In the meantime, there will be a traveling Mathematics exhibit, "Math Midway", that will storm the country. It started last October in New Jersey, at NY/NJ's science museum in Jersey City, NJ, at the Liberty Science Center, and will run there through the 21st of this month until it takes to the road.
I intend to visit this week or next and will report back.
In the meantime, click here to read all about it.
