Rick Perry as US President = Is American Science Doomed ?

I love my country, The United States of America, but apparently the Republicans, finally, have come up with a viable candidate that has more than a snowball's chance in Hell of defeating President Barry Obama.

And I fear his election, which may happen. Here's why.....

“There are clear indications from our people who have amazing intellectual capability that this [world] didn’t happen by accident and a creator put this in place. Now, what was his time frame and how did he create the earth that we know? I’m not going to tell you that I’ve got the answers to that. I believe that we were created by this all-powerful supreme being and how we got to today versus what we look like thousands of years ago, I think there’s enough holes in the theory of evolution to, you know, say there are some holes in that theory.”

... Rick Perry, Governor of Texas and potential 45th President of The United States of America

If he IS elected, that's the day Science will die.

from here.

Hi, Plato. Yes we can see what he's doing. The Republicans have pushed the creationist agenda so long they've made believers out of what they darn well know is bad science. So hopefully they've pushed themselves into a corner, but we don't have IQ tests for voting so the creationists believe everything Rupert Murdoch and his minions say. It's all a plan to get officials elected to make the Globals happy. They deregulated the banks, next up are the anti-pollution control laws, and to wreck them they need only sow just enough doubt that mankind doesn't change the ecology and biosphere. They're winning in the doubt game. So far, so bad.
